Together We Meet the Challenge and Bring Blessings to a Multitude of Lives

We are thankful to be able to offer blessings on this historic occasion of the 65th anniversary of FES. The Campus Evangelical Fellowship (CEF) of Taiwan is also celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. I hope that as I encourage you as brothers in the Lord, we can exhort each other as well.

Nowadays, all kinds of phenomena and cultures have emerged on the internet, all of which are issues that student workers cannot avoid today. As student evangelists, we ought to learn to use these online tools to reach out to students and engage with them in learning how to deepen their relationship with God and with people. We anticipate that FES and CEF will work together with other church organizations to face the challenges of the new era of student evangelism and campus mission strategies, and to facilitate the spread of the Gospel on campus.

On the other hand, literature ministry is faced with the impact of online technology and changes in reading habits. More effort is required than ever before to promote the study of the Bible and the reading of spiritual books. We hope that we can continue to guide our students to study the Bible, spiritual books and e-books, enable them to reflect on their faith, and nurture them to become the people of God’s kingdom in the future.

We wish FES the best in cultivating people from all walks of life for the Kingdom of God, witnesses to the faith, full-time preachers, and tomorrow’s theological educators and authors of future books. May God make you a blessing to many students’ lives. Finally, we look forward to FES broadening the horizons of our students towards the Kingdom of God, which is so vast and has so many needs that we should go to them. Through the ministry of all our fellow workers, we hope that more students will be willing to commit themselves to a lifetime of missions – whether it be long term or short-term missions, or dedication or prayer. May the kingdom of God come to earth soon.

May FES and CEF Taiwan join hands to face the future challenges of student evangelism in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Relationship Between FCS and FES

Macao Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) shares some similarities with FES Hong Kong in both English and Chinese names. Here’s an introduction to FCS: A mysterious person from Hong Kong appeared in Macau in around 1997. He “infected” a group of local graduates and students in Macau, helping them to organize many camps, activities, Bible studies and seminars that were considered radical in Macau at that time. He helped this group of people to “open their minds”, “open their appetites”, “open their eyes”, to integrate faith and life. This mystery man was not alone, he came together with the organization behind him and sometimes invited us to Hong Kong. Many of the believers influenced by the mystery man became founding members of FCS, or are directors and supporters of FCS today.

In 2007, Macao Fellowship of Christian Students was officially established. In 2010, we also organized the East Asia Graduate Conference (EAGC) together with FES Hong Kong. In 2015 we officially joined the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). Over the years, we have impacted many people to study theology, pastor churches, and even become ordained ministers.

Perhaps the FCS would not have been possible without the help of this organization behind the scenes. We hope you can understand how important we are to FES Hong Kong, because you are very important to us. Without you, we wouldn’t be who we are today.

“We know that it has not been easy in Hong Kong in the past few years, both for society and for the church. But we hope you will remember that the sky can turn gray, the earth can become ashes, but with God we can never be hopeless.”

“Happy 65th birthday to FES! We wish that FES activities would be fabulous with terrific student participation. As the students become full of life, the staff would be joyful. With regular contributions, the staff would have a stable supply!”

“Keep it up, FES Hong Kong!”
