Christmas Gift Appeal 2023
Dear companions of FES,
Peace be with you in the Lord!
The spate of suicides committed by young people in recent months has aroused the concern of various sectors of the community. Many surveys have shown that more than half of the young people are facing different degrees of emotional problems, and some of them even have symptoms of depression. In this challenging and ever-changing environment, FES staff are dedicated to serving and walking with the young believers as always, listening to their joys and sorrows and enabling them to find a timely refuge.
In recent years, there have been some changes in the FES staff team, with a number of senior staff, such as Maureen Tang, the Assistant General Secretary, honorably retiring at retirement age. We are grateful for their many years of faithful service. In this September, Fox Lo was promoted to the position of FES Assistant General Secretary, assisting our General Secretary, Barry Chung, in leading the organization’s development and responding proactively to the challenges of the times. At present, there is a shortage of qualified staff in various sectors, and we are thankful that a number of new staff members are joining FES. Although they may not have lots of working experience, they are passionate and committed to the student evangelical movement, and have been mentored and inspired by senior staff. In the face of rapid changes in the macro environment, our staff remain steadfast in their positions, continuing the mission of FES over the past decades, and walking with generation after generation of believers. Our staff listen attentively to the struggles of the new generation of young believers on campus. Through building a community of disciples pursuing the Word on campus, they support and pray for each other, learn to face challenging situations together, and reveal God’s Word in the smallest of spaces.
We are grateful for God’s guidance in the past year in nurturing this generation of young believers to respond to the
current sense of powerlessness and inarticulateness. May we continue to walk with this generation of young people,
and with the faith that God has given us, together we will embrace our mission in these turbulent times!
Please pray for us and support the student evangelical movement through your donations. Apart from the regular expenses, FES also has a good tradition of giving Christmas gifts to our staff. Every year, we appeal to our supporters to donate Christmas gifts to our staff as a token of our appreciation. We hope that we can give encouragement to our staff and acknowledge their faithful and diligent service.
