Cool water Internship
From hosting to being hosted

I served an internship with Christian Concern for the Homeless Association from June to July. They had just experienced a fire in the center and moved to a new ground floor with a lot to adjust to.

During my internship, I had the opportunity to meet with women living in the halfway houses. Honestly, I found it challenging to get along with them at first, and there was a generation gap between me and them. I could neither give advice nor engage in dialogue with them on parenting issues. Later, I had the opportunity to work with the women in making handicrafts, and gradually started to talk to them more. They began to open their hearts to me, and I felt more compassionate towards them. Most amazingly, they healed me. At the last farewell lunch, I experienced some unpleasant issues that week, but miraculously, when I met them, my distress disappeared. It was their warm hospitality, sincere smiles, and openness to share that turn my sadness to joy. Thank God.

Experiencing Full-Time Ministry

The training and activities in the program, such as getting to know the FES beliefs, sorting out personal lifelines, theological Day Camp, and participating in the EARC…… were all very rich and memorable. During the internship, we had a weekly devotional time where we read Opening to God: a guide to prayer together. This book supplemented my doubts and knowledge of faith in the eight years since I came to faith in Christ and reminded me of how I interacted with God through my emotions and feelings when I first became Christian. As I began to meditate and reflect, I was drawn to the knowledge of God, the Bible, and theology, and wished to know more fully the Lord in whom I was trusting.

As I look back on my internship, I have encountered many people and events, and many dialogues and encounters with the Lord. May the Lord continue to renew and use me, and may I continue to reflect on my faith and fulfil the mission of wholeness in my life.

EARC
Exchange with students from different regions on evangelical movement

One of the most insightful exchanges I had with other student evangelical movement in different districts was the sharing of a group member from a sensitive area, which prompted me to reflect on my own spiritual situation. In facing persecution, he believed that God was at work behind the scenes, and that God would use these incidents to raise up Christians in the area.

The theme ‘Voice Matters’ also inspired me to reflect on my own life of faith. Though the above sharing is one of the voices, God’s voice is the most important and should not be ignored. Recently I’ve been pondering the direction of my ministry, which seems to lack God’s involvement, and the feeling of “doing it like it’s for the Lord” hasn’t been in my heart for a long time. This EARC reminds me to fix my eyes on God as well as to be sensitive to His voice in my life so that I can live in His will and be a witness in what He wants me to do.
